As we understand electric equipment operates at a significantly lower pressure, lower water usage and in our opinion can run at a more constant steam temp compared to most all gas equipment.

• Average gas equipment water consumption at 2.5-4 GPM. With often times excessive pressures enough to cut a shingle in half. It turns water into mostly hot water (excessive water runoff) equating to nearly 150-240 excess gallons per hour of water on the outside walls and foundation of your home.
• Electric steam equipment costs at most about 35 cents per hour of your electricity. Not bad considering the average ice dam removal project is anywhere from 2-4 hours. Equating to $.70 – $1.40 electricity cost.

Choosing gentle electric steam over gas powered equipment is a no brainer in our opinion. Choosing a company that is transparent about there equipment. Equipment with steam temps of at least 270 degrees and a PSI of 200 or less is in our opinion ideal for the safest, efficient, and damage free roof ice dam removal.
